December Competition

First of all, I think I speak for all those at the Image Opportunity when I say that, even if it was hard, I had a lot of fun with the last competition, and think I'm finally getting used to running this. And I'm very sorry that it's taken so long, but we finally have the announcement for the December competition!

The theme for December is...
"Rise and Fall"

Deadline:
December 31st, 2007

If you have any questions, you can, as always, email us at image.opportunity [at] gmail.com, or look at the newly updated rules for the competition.

Good luck, and keep creating!

Update: The Rules

You need to know a few rules before submitting to the Image Opportunity!

This is an update on the previous rules that were stated in the announcement of the "Duplicate" theme.
  • We accept all visual arts that you can print. That means no music, video, etc...
  • All submissions must be in a digital format. So take a picture of all those sculptures you have.
  • We have a limit of three submissions per person, per contest.
  • Please include your name, grade, school, and title of submission, and genre of submission along with every submission!
  • Every competition will be based around a theme, and have a deadline about a month after the announcement of that theme.
  • Anyone of high school age can enter!
  • Judges will look for artistic merit, relevance to the theme, and the creativity of title when judging images. The first two categories will each be worth a maximum of 5 points, and the title will be worth only one point, as a tie-breaker.
  • Judging begins at the end of each contest, and the winner(s) will be announced and featured when chosen.
  • By submitting, you consent to allow us to use your image in any form we desire, including posting it on this website and other external websites.
  • All artworks appearing on this site are copyrighted to their respective artists, and may not be used for any purpose without the artist's written consent.

"Bountiful Blossoms"

Well, the final submission to the "Duplicate" contest is here! This is from Vicky Lai, a sophomore at Blair. Many thanks to everyone for submitting!

This was only posted after the winner was announced due to the forgetfulness of the judges. It was counted along with all the other submissions in scoring.

Picture in Picture

The judges have scored every one of the 15 submissions to our first every Image Opportunity competition. And we are proud to announce that the winner of the Image Opportunity's first ever competition, the "Duplicate" competition, is "Picture in Picture" by Jean Fan!

This submission exemplified the spirit of the "Duplicate" theme, as well as showing true talent and creativity. Congratulations, Jean!

In a very close second and third place were "Red Surge, White," and "Grapes. "

Duplicate Contest Ending

The first ever Image Opportunity competition finishes today, and we've so far received quite a few submissions! It will probably be difficult to narrow it down to one winner. We hope to be able to announce one winner sometime this weekends, and the next contest will likely be announced after that.

We also have a rules change to make, regarding submissions. On our deviantART site, we have to post submissions under specific categories. In addition to your name, age, grade, and title of the piece, could you also state what category the piece would fall under? An example would be photography > nature or digital art > people, and so on.

First of all, this is another submission from Jean Fan, entitled "Doppleganger."

We are also in the last week of our first competition! The next theme, which will likely have a deadline of Dec. 31st, will probably be announced sometime before Friday, the end of the "Duplicate" competition. Keep creating!

"Duplicate" Contest Submission

We've received our first "submission"! It came from Eric van Albert, a sophomore at Blair. The picture, "Two White Pixels," is simply that- two white pixels next to each other.

Maybe this "creative" use of the theme will win! Maybe not. So submit, if you think you can beat this! It shouldn't be hard.

(This picture has been removed from judging.)

Advertising?

Guess what? We need advertising! The month of November has just started, and there have been no submissions so far.

We're attempting to get announcements on InfoFlow, which some students would pay attention to, but have no further ideas. So please comment, or email us at image.opportunity@gmail.com !

Remember, you can't win if you don't submit. And you have nothing to lose, because we're going to post all the submissions anyway!

About us:

We are a rather loose organization of several students that decided that we wanted to be able to showcase the talent of the best artists we knew. An art competition was the logical choice.

This blog should basically serve to post updates and announcements about everything related to this competition. You can email us at image.opportunity@gmail.com, in order to send us submissions or to give us any feedback.
